To give you some background, as a small and fat child, the fastest mile I could run was in about 20 minutes. When I lost weight in high school, I could finally run a mile in 10 minutes. But today, I ran a mile in 7 minutes and 44 seconds!! ^_^
HAPPY DAYS!!

Hell yeah, dude! Feels good, doesn’t it? Nothing quite like a PR at the gym, no matter what you’re doing.
Now for the humble: World-class marathoners do 26.2 miles at a pace around 5min/mile.
I can’t even get that through my head.

Bully, sir, bully.
Myself, I’ll break 10 minutes one of these days. Last time I tried it was like 10:30 or something.

Congrats, that’s moving quick!
I ran a marathon many years ago (before kids). I’m pretty sure I did 12-13 minute miles. Finished in 5:35 or something. I was just happy to finish. When I run today, I still don’t do much better than 10 minute miles, but I also want my knees to last ;)

Congrats! That’s an awesome time.
I was also the biggest kid in school and never ran at all until college if I could avoid it. Now 25 (seriously?!) years later and I’m one of the fittest people at work. It’s an ongoing battle but worth it.

Thanks!!
Last week, I ran 2 miles under 19 minutes! That sure as hell surprised me. I’m not even running for the fastest times, I’m just doing it to see how far I can push myself every time I go for a run and keep my body healthy and fit as possible! But if I somehow achieve a 5k in under 30 minutes, I’ll think I’ll have had a heart attack by the time it’s over!! :p

Fantastical.
My fastest mile is 8:45, I really don’t know how my school expects us to run in 7 minutes.

I remember for my 13th birthday, my dad promised me an Xbox 360 if I could run a mile in 10 minutes flat. I didn’t do it before the day, but he bought it anyway because I needed something to entertain my friends with. I did get that 10 minute mile.....A year later! ^_^

I was the biggest kid in elementary school, and one of the biggest in middle school. By high school, I’d fallen somewhere between light and midweight. But I’ve kinda hit the weight plateau starting in college.

I couldn’t meet any physical expectations when we had fitness exams in elementary school.

Nice! I think I’ll have to have a go in the gym tonight now. Expectations not high, lol

I will eat a cheeseburger and drink a beer in your honor. Good for you. Not me though. I hate running. I’ve done enough of that shit for two lifetimes.

I think they set the bar too high. Yes, there are tons of athletic kids in my PE class, but for non-athletic people like the times/reps necessary to get 100% are astronomical.
I can literally do every test possible except for pacers and the mile. Those can die.

You must have awesome lungs. I can’t break a 9:40 mile due to being out of breath, but I can run a 5K in 36 mins and a 10K right at 75 mins with plenty of energy to keep going.
